The Staff

Amy Pace Owner/Director, Amy Pace has been dancing for over 20 years and her background in gymnastics/tumbling spans 12 years. She danced on scholarship with the Kaleidoscope Dancers Company at the University of Central Oklahoma while pursuing a degree in dance education. She has taken many classes in Early Childhood Developmental Psychology, Anatomy/Kinesiology, and Preventing and Treating injuries, and continues her education each summer with a Master Teacher's Workshop at Oklahoma City University and throughout the year at many dance conventions and workshops. She taught and administered the dance program at Sellers Dance from January 1996 until May 2010 and also taught at her studio she grew up at, Furman Gray/FGI in Midwest City, OK. Amy's choreography has been performed at UCO; by show choirs, pom and cheer squads, in talent shows, beauty pageants, dance competitions and recitals throughout the Midwest. In addition to her training at UCO, she received a scholarship and studied at the Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles. She has also studied with and been featured in works by many dance professionals including Debra Knapp, Jo Rowan, David Howard, Greg Russell, Doug Caldwell, and Barry Youngblood. She has taken class from and with judges Dan Karaty, Brian Friedman, Choreographers Tyce Diorio and contestants Destini Rodgers, Blake McGrath, and Ivan Koumaev all from FOX's hit show "So You Think You Can Dance?" Amy has been a performing member of the dance companies Psuedodance Theatre and Perpetual Motion Modern Dance Company. She has been the tumbling/stunt cheerleading coach for Santa Fe South Jr. and Sr. High squads here in Oklahoma City and was the founding director of Sacred Steps liturgical dance group at Wickline United Methodist Church in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Amy treasures all her dance accomplishments, but is most proud of her family; son Levin, daughters Rowen, and Aralyn.

 

DeLyn Richardson Teacher, DeLyn Richardson has been dancing for 20 years and began her serious training in Des Moines, where she studied under Mary Joyce Lind of Iowa Dance Theatre, a pre-professional children's ballet company. Throughout the years, she performed many corps and soloist roles in productions such as "Paquita", "Dracula", and "The Nutcracker". She continued her dance education at Oklahoma City University where she majored in dance management and performed with the American Spirit Dance Company while on scholarship. She attends outside classes, conventions, and dance workshops during the summer months and whenever possible. Some teachers she has studied under include Al Gilbert, Debbie Dee, Patrick Roddy, and Natalia Chapourskaya to name a few. She has been teaching all levels of dance in the Oklahoma City metro area for the past 8 years and is excited to be sharing her love of the art with A Step Above Dance. When she is not dancing, she loves to attend theater and dance performances and spend time with her husband Isaac and their sons Adrian and Cameron.

 

Jordan Hazelton Teacher, Jordan Hazelton began dancing at Sellers Dance when she was 3 years old. She studied all forms of dance while there. She began assistant teaching in 2003 and became a teacher in fall 2005. Jordan has won many dance awards through dance competitions and local talent shows with both her solos and groups always placing in the top 10. She has done many group and solo choreography projects. She has attended workshops and taken class with dance professionals Tyce Diorio, Ivan Koumaev, and Blake McGrath, all of FOX's hit show "So You Think You Can Dance?" and also Barry Youngblood and Chebar Williams. She is a 2008 Westmoore High School graduate, who is now getting a degree in Dance Education from UCO and an International Security Studies Minor in French at OU. She hopes to combine these things to teach dance and help child victims of war in developing communities. She has apprenticed with Psudeodance Theatre dance company of Oklahoma and done work with various children's sports camps at OCCC. She thoroughly enjoys teaching and spreading her love for dance.

 

Megan Isenhour Teacher, Megan Isenhour began dancing at the age of 2 1/2 with her mother, Jody. Megan has worked in the Cecchetti method of ballet taking her student exams for grades one through four. Megan continues her dance education by attending dance conventions regularly. Megan plans to attend Rose State in the fall of 2012. Megan has had the privilege of meeting and taking class with dance professionals such as Laurie Johnson, Mike Minery, Doug Caldwell, Joe Tremaine, Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Sonya Tayeh, Gregg Russell, Mandy Moore, and many, many more.

 

Courtney Wariner Teacher, Courtney Wariner has been dancing for 19 years, taking gymnastics for 15 years, figure skating for 10 years, and cheerleading for 10 years. She has won many awards and competitions in all disciplines. Courtney studied all forms of dance at Jo Hunter's, Ballet Oklahoma, and Basically Ballet as well as Sellers Dance Studio. She has been blessed with the opportunity to dance in Ballet Oklahoma's annual Nutcracker show. She was a member of both Basically Ballet's senior competitive dance company and Sellers Dance Performing Group. She has attended numerous dance conventions taught by some of the best choreographers in Oklahoma and Texas over the years, along with studying with Pseudodance Theatre Company of Oklahoma City. She studied gymnastics and cheer at Twist and Shout, Metro Gymnastics, Dynamo Gymnastics and Matt Trotters Gymnastics. She has attended several Oklahoma State cheerleading camps as well as being on the Twist and Shout and Northeast Academy's competitive squads. Courtney took skating lessons at Arctic Edge and feel in love with teaching while there as she had an opportunity to teach skating, as well as ballet to figure skaters. Courtney began assistant teaching dance at Basically Ballet in 2002. Since then, she has taught several workshops at elementary schools and daycares across Oklahoma City and loves sharing her passion for dance, gymnastics and cheer with others.
